Anson Road Community Shop

ü  The Anson Community-Shop redistributes surplus food from manufacturers, supermarkets and local people.
ü  Members pay £2.50 for around £12 worth of food items with some household essentials available to buy.
ü  The shop is open every Tuesdays 10am – 2pm at the Anson Community House, 38 Meldon Road, Rusholme, M13 0TR.

Rusholme Social Cafe


Rusholme Social-Café, every Wednesday, 1-3pm at the Birch Community Centre, Brighton Grove, Rusholme, M14 5JT. It is open to everyone and provides a place to meet, chat and enjoy a range of activities for free with help yourself refreshments available for a donation. No need to book (unless stated) – just come along.

Regular activities include crafts, gardening, cooking and reminiscence workshops along with new workshops planned by café members. During the next few months we have the following planned activities:

6th April                 Trip to Hulme garden centre (leaving Birch Centre at 12.30pm; please book)

13th April              Queen’s birthday craft workshop

20th April              Queen’s birthday celebration

27th April              Trip to Trentham Gardens Estate (limited places; please contact us)

4th May                 Cooking with Jill

11th May               Nutrition talk and workshop with Ruth Morgan

18th May               Cooking with Jill

25th May               Open session: crafts, gardening, sewing

Rusholme Soup

Join us for the 1st Rusholme Soup on Wednesday 9th March, doors open 6.30 for 7pm start, at Birch Community Centre, Brighton Grove, Rusholme, M14 5JT.
 
Simply make a donation for your supper, listen to the pitches about local projects and vote on which project you would like to see funded.
 
The winner takes the donations from the night to make their community idea a reality.

Busy January!

2016 has got off to a great start with new accredited courses starting in Fallowfield, Gorton and Clayton along with the 1st Rusholme Health Forum. Also we are very busy working with the Anson Residents Association, Fare Share and Eastland Homes / One Manchester coproducing a new community shop project, distributing surplus food.

Here is a few photos from the fantastic Rainbow Haven Food Works projects, providing training and cooking skills for refuges and migrants in Manchester.






Rusholme Film Club - an evening with CP Lee


Join us on Sunday 7th February 2016

CP Lee, the passionate Mancunian musician, writer, broadcaster and film historian presents a celebration of the Mancunian Film Studios that introduced Manchester (and Rusholme) to Hollywood.

Doors open at 5pm and free tickets available from                                                             



Rusholme Film Club is the friendly way to watch a film, catch-up with friends old and new. We are not a cinema and show films using a projector and screen!

·         The Film Club takes place in the beautiful Birch Community Centre Brighton Grove, Rusholme, Manchester M14 5JT

·         Doors open at 5.30pm (unless stated) for a 6pm start, closing at around 8pm.

·         The film showings / events are free and there is freshly brewed coffee, selection of teas, cold drinks and snacks available for a donation.

·         There is no need to book unless stated.

·         And all welcome!

Merry Christmas and we will be back in 2016!

The Healthy Me Healthy Communities team wish everyone a peaceful Christmas and we will back on Monday 4th January.
We will be starting back with our new Healthy Eating course (level 1) in Fallowfield and 2 new Food Safety course (level 2) in Clayton and Gorton.
